Best Practices
- Recommended for schools to wait for the new curriculum year (coming Dec 1st) to use API if they’ve made manual updates to 24-25 curriculum data in the Data Clean-up Tool.
- Brand new schools are fine to use API import immediately

Implementation Guide
Steps To Use API:
1. Work on Curriculum Data for a specific year:
2. Copy Data from Previous Year:
3. Continue through standard Program Import from COCI using CSV provided by COCI website.
4. Upon COCI Success, Import from Local Curriculum System:
5. Select Import from Curriculum Management Tool:
6. Select Direct Import Button
7. *ELumen Users Only: Make Proposal Start Date selection. You will have the option to select the most recent which will find the most recent proposal start date even if it is in the future; or “With Parameters” which will allow the user to input a date, and the API will only pull proposal start dates from the input date and before. (System will start at the input date and go back selecting the first found proposal start date.)
8. Upon Success continue to Alignment:
9. Align Programs: *Common reasons for misalignment are differences in Course/Program Name or Award Type (ex. “Associates of” or “Associate in” difference).
10. Repeat Steps for Course Import
Troubleshooting
Common Issues:
- Data format mismatches:
- If you see a lot of programs/courses that are needing alignment, more than likely there is a formatting difference between how the data has been entered into your Local Curriculum management system (eLumen or CurrIqunet) and how the data has been entered into COCI.
- There is a chance based on how data was previously imported that there could be some misalignment of data from your Curriculum Management System and previous imports.
- Ex. Missing prerequisites from Curriculum management on courses versus what was originally entered into the PPM from template import.
- Ex. Award type Import indicates Associate Degree for Transfer but template import indicates Associate Degree or vice versa.
- Fix: You may end up needing some links updated by your webmaster. Please put in a support request for us to help you through this process.
